30.4.08

Its the little things that we tend to ignore.
I doubt this lasted the day, but I appreciated it.

Alfie as a Pup, about 10 weeks old at this time.
This rare treat is brought to you because my laptop has stopped working, and all my pictures are on it!
Thank goodness for backup drive thing.

Will it ever drop below a pound?
I am not picking on this petrol station, its where I buy fuel, and probably one of the cheapest in the area, which makes it even worse.
We don't need to use our car as often as we do, key point, car, not cars. We already made that step a few years ago, but flirted with an MGB, and a camper van, as second vehicles, all sold on I hasten to add. The kids go to school locally, ie, we walk 'em every morning. We both work locally, although Mrs G uses the car to run errands from work. Note to self, this was organised when petrol was a pound a gallon cheaper, needs to be looked at again.
Have we filled our tank in anticipation of shortages?
No chance, I am not getting into a wee wee contest with the oil cartells.
We will of course line their over filled pockets indirectly with price rises in distribution costs, but I see no sense in overdoing it!

Ice cream in the Garden.
The simple joys of summer
Need more days like this!

Wii fit. Mrs G maybe, this blasted machine declared me obese.
Wii not very fit.
Oh well.

Thursday 24 April 2008

24.4.08

OM1n, 50mm lens with some odd marks on front element, and lost the lens cap a few years ago, Fomapan 100 in APH09, then some manky old fixer, and a nice long wash. Hung up to dry without thinking how much dust is generated by Alfie, ( see earlier post)
Scanned on a very cheap flat scanner, but it does have a negative carrier, which gently puts the negative into a mild curve after a few moments.
Despite all the above, an image of old Patcham Village.

Way too much work on in last week. This is a shot of one of my favorite tasks.....
"dumping clutter"
I have no idea why we get so much, but its purged ruthlessly.

Rather predictable don't ya think?
All this, and tax rises.
Methinks we're living in interesting times......

Is this a good sign? I know the media love bad news, I don't believe things are that bad. Its great copy to inform (?) us 4000 mortgage products have been removed. How many of these were me too same old stuff, and how many were there to start with? My provider sorted us in a ten min phone call. everyones circumstances are different, Hype headlines are rubbish.

Maybe this little fella has it easier!

Despite the ease of digital, I still get a real kick out of using film. This old Olympus OM1n has been with me for 20years, and I brought it second hand. It now lives on a diet of Fomapan 100, with a side order of Tri x. I prefer the Fomapan, and am on my last roll of Tri x.
I do keep looking at the back of this camera when I take a picture. Digital can ruin your confidence, and creates bad habits.

Self portrait, of middle aged snapper, using a technique cribbed from a forgotten website, ( way too much surfing )
When and if I find the site that inspired this I will post an acknowledgement.

15.4.08

Hitting the internet early in the morning. Lego.com way too gripping.
"Dad, can I have this...."
"Dad, when can I have my own laptop....."
"Well son, I had to wait until I was 39..."

14.4.08

This stuns me today.
I expect in a few months I will look back and wish I could buy petrol at this price.

Daughter dressed and hair nicely done to attend local school holiday group presentation.
She was in "South Africa" group, and the week followed a theme of Olympic challenges.
